I’ll let you in on a well-kept secret. For over a decade, Grisko has been an engaged member of IPREX, a global network of best-in-class, independently-owned communications agencies. We are, in fact currently the only IPREX partner in the Chicago region. Which makes us the only local agency with this secret sauce.

Despite our deep roots in Chicago and Illinois, we don’t think of ourselves as a local agency and IPREX has a lot to do with that. After all, we have instantaneous access to over 100 proven and trusted communications teams all over the world. Right now, Greg Beuerman’s deeply-connected team at Beuerman Miller Fitzgerald (BMF) in New Orleans provides on-the-ground community building for our Liquid Natural Gas client in Houston. We find this works better than arriving in rural Louisiana to announce, “We’re from Chicago and we’re here to help.”

Through IPREX, we connected an architecture firm in Chicago with savvy public relations support in Latin America. A long-time marketing executive in Dubai gave us a full view of the communications landscape at an IPREX conference there this spring. (Pro tip: don’t set up an office in Dubai and think you’ve covered the communications landscape in the Middle East).

It’s about expertise as well as geography. Walt & Company in Silicon Valley for example, works primarily with tech companies and provides brilliant earned media coverage for our German-based client as they extend what’s possible in the digital transformation of industrial technology and manufacturing.

IPREX also provides what every business owner needs: best practices, a knowledgeable sounding-board, access to business intelligence in global markets and as our Cincinnati partner puts it: the ability to punch above your weight class. It’s also surprising how eager our staff is to engage in professional development – or maybe not, since it takes place in cities like Paris, London, and let’s not forget Kansas City.

Companies can and do of course hire agencies tied to the major mega international communications firms for global work. Sometimes that’s the right move. Other times they prefer teams organized around clients rather than shareholders; agency owners who choose to collaborate; and vetted, award-winning companies that seamlessly provide excellent work and client service any time, any place.
