Grisko has supported ComEd, Illinois’ largest electric utility, on a number of initiatives that ultimately impacted the lives of thousands of consumers in Illinois. From legislative campaigns to storm response guidelines, Grisko collaborated with ComEd’s communications and public affairs teams to simplify complex concepts and create clear, powerful messages to advance policies and procedures that keep people safe and ensure clean, green power now and in the future.
Faced with legislative rejection of funding for the Smart Grid—critical infrastructure to provide more efficient management and use of electricity—ComEd turned to Grisko to support their public affairs and public relations campaign to get the project back on track.
A major hurdle standing in the way of the Smart Grid’s future was the threat of a veto by the governor.
In addition to developing a campaign strategy and messaging, Grisko created the “Recharge Illinois” campaign identity and logo, along with a website where smart grid supporters could contact their legislators. Grisko’s strategic approach enlisted the voices of influential labor, minority business and municipal leaders to reach the governor and targeted legislators with positive smart grid messages in the media and through direct communications.
The Illinois General Assembly overrode the governor’s veto in both chambers. This marked a legislative victory and turning point in the future of the Illinois smart grid program.
When ComEd recognized the need to update all communications for year-round storm response, they turned to Grisko to develop clear, concise messages for all communications channels along with easily recognized visuals such as icons and infographics.
Grisko gathered feedback from multiple ComEd teams in order to fully understand the communications challenges and needs of customers during severe weather. Drawing on information from the frontlines of response, Grisko created a comprehensive, multi-phased communications roadmap for multiple storm scenarios. ComEd storm response and communications teams rely on the guidebook to alert and keep customers informed about weather related outages and repair efforts.
For thousands of residents served by ComEd, our storm response communications guide is helping to ensure consistent, reliable communication and safe power restoration for customers and employees.
The ComEd Operational and Strategic Business Initiatives team wanted consistency and creativity for more impactful presentations. They asked Grisko to help them share their important work and initiatives in a unique and visual way.
Grisko worked closely with the ComEd team to understand their goals and primary audiences, and identify the key information they needed to share about their initiatives. The Grisko creative design team created a customized PowerPoint template and two extensive icon libraries: one for general audiences and a highly stylized pictogram library for more formal presentations to high-level leadership.
The OSBI team leverages the template and icon libraries to communicate in a more visual, creative way that distinguishes its work and helps communicate complex initiatives.
